İmbat’s Signature on the Climate Control of Russia’s 8,000-Capacity Magas Mosque
Located in the Russian city of Magas and able to welcome 8,000 worshippers at once, Magas Mosque is one of the most important places of worship in the region. The comfort infrastructure of this building, whose high ceilings and large interior volume call for a tailored climate control approach, has been delivered with İmbat Rooftop technology. The project brings together the delicate comfort needs of a place of worship and high energy efficiency.

A Single-Package Rooftop Solution Instead of AHU and Chiller
The initial design of the project called for a conventional air handling unit (AHU) and chiller system. However, considering the high initial investment, comparatively low efficiency and complex installation this setup would require, the project switched to a more compact and easy-to-operate alternative. Following this revision, 4 İmbat Rooftop units with a total cooling capacity of 407.76 kW were integrated into the project without compromising the architectural integrity of the mosque.
A Smart Response to Changing Crowds
One of the biggest challenges in places of worship is occupancy that can rise to thousands of people within a short time. The smart automation and CO2 sensors of the units continuously monitor indoor air quality and adjust the fresh air supply to actual demand, keeping the air clean and balanced even at the busiest moments.
Efficient Equipment for a Harsh Climate
Special equipment was added to the units to cope with the demanding climate of the region. A rotary (enthalpy) heat recovery system reuses the energy in the exhaust air and significantly reduces operating costs, while high-capacity electric heaters keep indoor temperatures stable on freezing winter days.
By replacing the installation complexity and high operating costs of conventional systems with a single-package Rooftop solution, İmbat continues to demonstrate its engineering strength in prestigious international projects with its “Wherever İmbat is, there is a solution” approach.
